St. Valentine's

This was sitting in the drafts folder for a really long time, but I never got to complete it. But oh well, better late then never. Yeah, so this was on Valentine's...

Geez, I have had enough with single folks saying "Oooh I'm all alone on Valentine's. I'm sucha loser. I hate Valentine's". Oh gosh, just get over it. Yeah I'm single too. But like I don't think it's a big deal that you're single on Valentine's. Geeez. Okay anyway, this Valentine's is probably the best Valentine's I ever had. I was really looking forward it.
Oh but not for the lovey dovey fest.. it's APAC basketball finals! Shanghai American School (SAS) that's us! vs Seoul Foreign School (SFS). SFS won APAC bball champs for 3 years in the row. SAS has been runner up for way too long. This game made SAS history man. The SFS crusader are sooo cocky, seriously, they have to humble it down there. But I have to admit they are pretty skilled. They scored 12 three-pointers in the first match-up game with us which we got kinda owned (65-41). 12 three-pointers?! That's pretty amazing.

Okay the sad story is. The game started at 5pm and I had ballet at 5.30pm so I had to miss the game fo sho. I was super duper bummed and I called my mum if I could cancel but I ended up with a long lecture on how I wasn't committed enough. Geez, so that was a no no from Mrs Ho. (I'm good with rhyming now from all that poetry classes with Mr Sinclair) I was like whining the entire car ride from school to ballet. And whining while changing into my tights and whatnot. And whining while warming up. Then I had the best idea. Ditch ballet! So I sneaked out of the studio, grabbed a cab, and was just on time for the third quarter.

The atmosphere was electrifying! I've never seen such school spirit. Ever. It was awesome shizz. Of course, the eagles won with Jon Kao shooting the winning goal. EAGLE PRIDE!

Look at all that school spirit! BODY PAINT! SAS EAGLES! Yeah bang those giant water bottles!

Haha yes, we all rushed to the court even before the game officially end. And that's the SFS coach being pissy about it. Nice.

I have very weird friends. But I love them truckloads.

Yeah, so that pretty much is the gist of February (which was like 3 months ago, I know, I lag.), I'm sure there were other memorable events (FRINGE FEST!) but I seriously can't bother to blog on anymore. Anyhoo, I still have a list of stuff to blog about (i.e. Habitat For Humanity Zambia trip). I actually do have a list. But just hang on aight. I've been busy rehearsing for the school play -- "Night of January 16th" . I play a slutty secretary whom has an afair with the boss, how typical. Oh and things get juicier, I have a gangster lover and I'm accused of murdering my boss. The setting of the play is in the 1930's, in New York. Okay okay, I shall not reveal too much of the plot. The interesting thing about the play is that the jury is the audience! So basically a jury is drawn from the audience and they will determine whether I'm guilty, or no. So there are 2 possible endings to the play. It's a 1-2 hour play, so I have tons of lines to memorize. This is my first play, so I'm kinda nervous and stressed out. I hope I do fine.

So be sure to catch the show, on Thursday (3.30pm) or Saturday (7pm) at the BBT. Please come and bring all your friends. It's going to be awesome

Just 30 more days to endure..

(It probably loads extremely slowly, try watching the one on fb.)

The only reason why I've not been updating at all is because I've been so preoccupied with school work, school activites, school school school. I'm soo sick and tired of school. Just 30 more school days to endure, till it's summer! Hallelujah! Okay when I clear all my school work, I shall update as often as I can. I have a few uncompleted posts from eons sitting in the draft file. Meh.

On the brighter side, the next few days are going to be sunny sunny sunny according to Google. It better be accurate..

新年快乐,一本万利

Dude this is sooo late. But I felt guilty for not posting a real post in such a long time. So I'm like blog insanely right now. Hmmm, it is kinda hard to update this space on a regular basis. Sometimes I get really exciting about blogging but yet sometimes I feel that blogging is such a chore. Oh wellzz..
DSC_7804

Awww, don't we look cute. Yes yes I know I look super duper asian there. Well maybe because I am freaking asian! And proud of it, AZN PRIDE! So yeah, if it isn't obvious enough, I went back to Singapore for CNY. I stayed at the Foo's cos we rented out our condo to some Australian family who didn't pay rent and zao-ed leaving a bloody mess. I'm not exaggerating, it was as if there was a war going on with our tenants. Our crib was a total wreckage. Okay, shan't digress, that's another story.

Anyway, back to CNY.. Do you guys like my hot pink 旗袍 embroidered with butterflies? It's tailor-made by the way, they took sooo long to make it though. Well, I really like it, you can't see it in any of the photos but it's actually bare backed. Pretty kewl. My mum's one is tailor-made too. I really like the fabric of hers and the black bits are actually made of genuine leather. Of course, hers costed more to make. Oh whatever.

This year's chinese new year wasn't very exciting I have to admit. I guess chinese new year gets boring after a while. I mean how exciting can it get. We do the same thing every year. Have 1234567 reunion dinners (I had yusheng for uncountable times, I think I might actually throw up if I see another one of those colorful salads), watch 123456 deafening lion dance performances, stuff myself with pineapple tarts. Dude, I definitely gained a few pounds on this trip. Sigh. Maybe chinese new year is getting old now. Someone has to come up with something fresh and new ya know. Doing the same stuff every year, yeah gets old.

Well, I did have fun with my cousins though. I love them oh so dearly. Jane and I sneaked out in the middle of the night to go swimming. It was very thrilling cos we had to make sure we didn't get caught by the 'rents. And after the swim, we would secretly pig out on cereal and other tidbits (i.e. stale seaweed and icky dried blueberries) in the kitchen and freeze out butts off in our bathing suits. Sneaky sneaky.. Haha, I love being sneaky. Teehee.

If it isn't obvious enough, I got hair cut. I got it at Supercuts at Orchard Cineleisure, I wanted to get it at this place at Holland V which Koto recommended me to but I didn't really had the time to go to Holland V this trip. I mostly loitered around Orchard as usual. Yeah back to the haircut. It costed me like $50 for the cut and I didn't like it. I just ask the dude to trim my fringe cos it was getting too long. I hate it when my fringe is like draping all over my face. Yeah and he gave me bangs. What the.. Well, it isn't exactly bangs it's like bangs and then on the right side it's like a graduation down. Kinda strange looking it makes my hair look stiff and less flowy then it used to be. But now it's kinda grown out and pass its weird stage so I actually like it now.

Oh geez, I'm seriously tooo darn lazy to upload the gajillion photos. Click here and here and here and here to view my cny albumns on fb.

China Alive 2008: Guizhou Hiking Trip (黄果树瀑布)

This is the continuation of the first part of my hiking trip at Guizhou I posted eons while ago (before I got lazy). Actually, I'm not going to go on about the trip anymore,I'll just write on this massive waterfall we went too. Not going to write about everything else we did in Guizhou anymore because, firstly, it was too long ago, I have already forgotten what we did and secondly, I'm just too god damn lazy to upload the 123456 photos.

Alright, where was I? Oh right, pockey..

Yeap we brought like a good stock of pockey on our trip. Including new yunmmy flavours like blueberry and banana. I liked the banana one alot. Yes, Jean likes her bananas. *lick lick*

Yellow Fruit Tree Waterfall
Anyway, it was a very long bus ride till we finally reached our destination...a bonsai garden.

WTF?!? We went all the way here to look at midget plants?! No seriously, I was soo pissed that all I saw after the tedious bus ride, was an unimpressive bonsai garden. Oh but I was wrong, we were actually at the Yellow Fruit Tree Waterfall (黄果树瀑布)which was the largest waterfall in China and Asia. It is 77.8 m (255 ft) high and 101 m (330 ft) wide; located at the Baihe River (白水河). This meant more hiking.. Oh gosh!

After hiking for about 45 minutes, we could hear the waterfall. We spotted a corner of it and had to take a picture! Dude, it looked so tiny. Psssh yeah we were still really far away. Ugh, more hiking..
Still long way to go till we get closer. Haha and more camwhoring on the way. Camwhoring while hiking is kinda bad idea, I actually stumbled and tripped on myself a few times. Yeah I'm a klutz. Shut up.

Hell yeah! Bring out da shades!

WTF am I doing?!

Ooh we're getting closer now. From that distance, I could already feel the cool mist spraying on my sweaty neck. Very rewarding from all that hiking. Finally we were up close with the almighty waterfall. Ooh what a sight! Yeah it doesn't look very large in the picture but it was actually massive! I think it's the biggest waterfall I've ever seen so far. (I have yet to see Niagara, maybe soon). Eww, I think I have to shed a few pounds :/

Get Money + Get Paid

Holy smokes! This is freakin' hilarious! I saw this on the Magaret Cho blog.
OMG laughed my socks off! Yes guys, stock your fridge for the ladies and remember to get 'em blue kool aid. Geez, soooo funny I'm stiil cracking up here. This guy is awesome, I wish I knew this guy. OMG this video just totally made my day!

"..and for 'em hood chicks.. BAAMM! a whole drawer of kool aid!"

P.S. I have 101 things to blog about. But I'll just have to keep you folks entertained with this video first.

I still love you Chris Brown!

Yes yes, I know I have yet to update on chinese new year. But not right now, too busy catching up with school work. I have no idea why I'm always like one step behind everyone else. Hmm, maybe cos I always leave all my assignments to the last minute? OMG. This is seriously a habit I have to rid pronto. Anyhoo, course requests this week. Definitely going with the IB diploma. But still a little unsure of which courses I'm should to take. My greatest dillema is between Biology and Theatre. I really enjoy theatre (it's sooo much fun!) and it would be nice to have a class to look forward to after an entire day of lectures cos you get to move around in theatre and just have fun! But then again biology would probably be a better choice for college cos I'm planning to take a college course that's most likely to be science related. Yeah, I'm a science kinda person (strange how I suck at math though). But then again, it would look good if I took a fine arts course, that way I would be all rounded. At least seem to be so. OMG, I'm in such a pickle. Well, I have already decided that I'm going to do English A1 SL, Chinese A2 SL, Math SL (yes, I suck), Chem HL, Phsychology HL, oh and Theory of Knowledge (TOK) of course. Yeah so my last slot would be either theatre or bio HL. Meh. Junior year's gonna be a bitch.

I'm reading Perez too much now. When I suppose to be focusing on my work. But oh who cares, Hollywood gossip before academia right? Oh dude right, on the whole Chris Brown assualting Rihanna issue. Which is all over the web now.
ririchris__opt
perezhilton.com
I totally am in utter disbelief. I don't think Chris would hit a woman man. And hitting "Princess RiRi"?! That's outrageous. And just right before the Grammy's?! So insane! But I still love my boy Brown. He's a cutie. Kinda sad for RiRi though. Aww :( LOL, apparantly her family wants her back in Barbados and away from Chrisy poo. Yikes!

C is for Cookie

Mmmm what could be better than the smell of fresh baked cookies on a cold morning. I baked sugar cookies today. From scratch, I must boast. I would usually just buy Betty Crocker's sugar cookie mix. Just add butter and pop them in the oven. But I was in the mood for real baking today and sugar cookie was the easiest treat to bake I could think of. I added a little cinnamon to the original recipe for that extra kapow and it did taste better. Yummy!

P.S. I'm going to Singapore on Thursday.

You've got mail!

Guess what came in the mail?
That's my korean name in the corner. Yeah, I doodle on my desk alot..

I received this package a few days back. Ooh who is it from? Sadly, it's from none of you losers. Fine, I'll stop acting like a silly tard. It's a dress I bought online. I love getting mail! Even though I was totally expecting this package of course. Everytime I spot my name written on an envelope or a giant crate or something, I get all excited and start ripping the package up like a 5 year old. Anyway back to dress. Okay, I got this dress for winter formal which is actually round the corner. I know like why is winter formal in jan?! I don't know some conflict with stuff so the school arragenged it later. Oh wellz.

Anyway, I've been scouting for a dress a while now. Like combing every mall but to I didn't really like anyone. Well, I really liked this other dress from FCUK but it was freaking 2600RMB (around 550SGD or 380USD) which was totally like not in my budget. Thank god I finally found a really cute dress online in my budget that I really liked too. Some of the girls had their dresses made. It would be really fun to come up with the design and like mix and match materials but it's too much of a hassle and it always doesn't turn out as good as expected. Yeah getting a ready made one off the shelf is just soo much easier.

No, I'm not going to show you the dress. You guys shall just have to wait till winter formal. All I'm gonna say is it's a little black dress. I saw this other really loud red dress that was kinda pretty too. But nah, too risky. I'll just play safe. You can never go wrong with the LBD. Well, I can show you the heels I got.
Sorry it's really tiny. Click to enlarge.

Yeah it's really simple. But I like it so whatever. I had to get really high heels cos the guy I'm going with is freaking tall and yeah and if you guys haven't notice I'm kinda tiny. Yeah, just kinda. Oh well, it's all fine.

Oh geez, it's Sunday already which means it's the end of winter break. Sigh, and back to school I go. This break wasn't exactly great anyway. Like I spent most of the days sitting at home doing watching gossip girl or like just stoning around. I finished like all of season 1 and season 2 in like 3 days. WTF. Gossip girl is awesome and everything (I'm totally hooked on it) but I felt like a total loser staying at home during the break. Sucks to be stuck in Shanghai man. Yeah, not really looking forward to going back to school though. Dang it. Monday morning is going to be a bitch.

2009 2009 2009

Farewell 2008.

Oh my fireworks exploding everywhere in the neighborhood right now! (Yes, it's legal to purchase and light up fireworks/firecrackers anywhere you like, including your backyard). Oh 2008..2008..2008.. I wouldn't say 2008 was a great year for me, then again it wasn't that bad. The whole of 2008 was in a total new environment for me. Moving to Shanghai, after living in Singapore for 14-ish years of my life. Moving to a complete different country, hell yeah I was scared at first. But after I've been here for a year now, I have seriously grown to like this city. Yeah and switching from school to school, and now I finally settled down in SAS. I got to meet many new fab friends which is really awesome. Yeah but I hope 2009 would be a better year for me. Like seriously, things better improve this year. What are my new year resolutions? I don't believe in new year resolutions, but what the heck.

  1. Do something about my icky room. You guys have no idea how much like a sty my room is. Yeah remember, I did a post while back about how icky my room was. Till now, it's still in that state. Disgusting.
  2. Less booze and more books. In 2008, I have to admit that I haven't been exactly prompt with my school work and my grades aren't exactly that great either. Bummer. Yeah so that's something to work on this year.
  3. Dance dance dance. Yeah I'm like busy enough with ballet. But this year I'm doing this dance theater production in school for the Fringe Festival. We're working with this polish lady. I met her once, she seems intense and kinda demanding. Like the first meeting with her and she asks us to come up with a 1 minute solo. WTF. Preparation for this production is going to be really darn tedious. On top of that, we still gotta prepare our Passion Vol. II (the annual dance showcase). Oh my, gotta brace myself for that.
  4. Be happy and healthy and just to live 2009 to the fullest.

Have a smashing 2009 you guys! Cheers!

25 December 2008

Feliz Navidad!

Christmas! Here already!? 'Tis the season to be jolly! I love this time of year! Schools out, everyone in a festive mood, presents, it doesn't get any better than this. Wow isn't it insane how time zooms pass us so quickly like that though. Very soon 2008 will be over.

Anyway, this Christmas wasn't anything grand actually. Just a small gathering at my house with friends and family. (Well, my parent's friends at least) Started helping mum to set up with the deco and what not. I love decorating the house. I might even tend to overdo it sometimes. Like lighting up a candle in every corner and draping red and green on every table top. But who cares. It's all about the festive mood!

Helped out in the kitchen for a bit, dressed up and dinner was ready. Dinner wasn't very interesting actually, trying to participate in the adult conversation. Yeah, not very fun. We need more people my age to come next year dad. Haha oh well. I shall stop being annoying.

Right to the feast! Okay I have to admit. We didn't cook Christmas dinner, we had a caterer. Let's just say my mum isn't very good with festive fare. She cooks a mean chicken curry though. But that isn't exactly festive. So yeah we got a caterer to do the job. Everything was oh so yummy! Just look at the spread!

Isn't the gingerbread cake cute? The cake was crumbly and nutty and had a really strong ginger taste (well duh, it's freaking gingerbread cake). Haha well, the ginger flavour was a tad too overpowering for my taste. But the frosting was delish. Everything else was good too. I love roast turkey. Yeah my family isn't a fan of Christmas ham, so we didn't have Christmas ham this year.

Alright more pics for you guys:

Haha yeah I spend every Christmas with the family. Aww isn't that nice. Haha no love better than family love! Teehee. Oh my, we had sooooo much turkey left over. This means, midnight turkey sadwiches! Haha yeah and guess what we had for lunch the next day...

Haha it looks kinda gross but I swear it's really yummy. Turkey tastes better overnight. Haha.

Oooh my favourite Christmas goodies - spiced nuts! These little morsels of heaven are the best ever. I'm totally addicted to them. Fine fine, I know you guys are dying to know what I got for kidding. Yeah right, who cares what Jean got for Christmas. Well, actually nothing much this year. Mostly clothes. Two of them which I really like are a pair of Guess jeans and a FA:GE leather jacket from mama dearest.

Oooh the jeans were no ordinary jeans, they were studded with black Swarovski crystals! Ain't that kewl?! Lo and behold the pimp jeans..

Haha anyway, I hope you guys had jolly christmas!

Screw the Exams

Oh gosh I have been mugging the entire day but I don't think I have absorbed anything. My mind is floating somewhere else or maybe because I'm clicking away on facebook and chatting on msn every 3 minutes. I have an attention span of a squirrel like seriously, I can't do long hours of hardcore mugging. Dang, I'm so screwed for the exams tomorrow. Can't wait for it to be over! Tuesday is going to be my last paper and after that imma go wild! Whoooo! Yeah and I would be blogging regularly after that. So hang in there guys. I'll be back soon! :)

07 December 2008

I need these kicks

Yes I know I haven't been updating. (I know part II for guizhou isn't up yet..) Quit whining already! I have like 101 things to blog about but I'm still oh so busy with semester exams round the corner and everything. Christmas is coming up soon. Can't wait! I love the festive season! Anyway, I was browsing on the net and I saw these awesome sneakers! They're so so pweeety..

PASTRY

Comment on which one you like best!
Yeah I totally need these new sneakers man. My Adidas is getting kinda old now. Hmmm, this would make a perfect xmas gift.. *hint hint*

In The Wee Hours

It's 0039hrs right now and I'm still trying to finish my history notes. WTF. I'm definitely going to wake up a zombie tomorrow morning. Yikes! Oh well. I just felt like posting a brief update. Yeah, I've been kinda busy lately, with all the school work and whatnot. Oh geez, science trimester exams are round the corner! Ugh. I've been very preoccupied with dance as well. I'm working on 2 pieces for the school assembly which is about in 2 weeks. It's going to be an awesome one, I know it. We're using all this pro lighting tech effects (including hydraulics!) it looks awesome! I can't wait! I'm also preparing for a ballet recital (NUTCRACKER!) for christmas! Busy busy me.. Alright I'll do a proper update once I have the chance to. Oh yeah Tammy, I still have yet to do a post on part II of the Guizhou adventure. What to do, I'm such a lazy blogger.

*****************************
As I was browsing through some of my friends' blogs. I happened to chance on something quite absurd..

The one on the left, is my blog description which you can find on the right panel of my blog. And the one on the right is someone else's blog description. When I read it, I was like wow doesn't this sound familiar. It's like a Malaysian rip off of mine(No offense, I love malaysians). You should see this chick's blog. It is soo similar to mine: the layout, the blogging format. I'm not going to say who it is cos I'm not trying to make a big deal out of it. I just find it kinda funny. Yes, I know my blog owns (jaykay) but there's no need to be ripping off to this extent girl. Yikes..  :/

[edit]
I'm not trying to accuse anyone of anything. I mean this is such a minor issue. It's just something I found rather amusing. LOL. There's no need to be so defensive. What a joke..

13 November 2008

Relay For Life 2008

Okay, in case some of you ignorant fools (I'm just kidding) don't know what Relay For Life is.. It's basically like a 24-hour event where the entire high school camps out on campus and like we form teams of 10-20 people and at any point of time there should be at least one representative from each group walking around the track. The event is all in the name of fighting against cancer. In other words, massive sleepover party for a good cause! It doesn't get better than this.
Prior to the event, each group has to raise at least 5000 RMB (approx. 1000SGD) which will all go to cancer research and like cancer societies. I make a mean peanut butter chocolate chip cookie so I baked like 100 and sold them at school.
Well, the weather wasn't very desirable that day though. It was pouring the entire day and it was extremely chilly. Which meant we couldn't camp out on the field, we had to sleep in the cafeteria instead. But I still had so much fun! I didn't sleep till like 4 in the morning. I performed 2 dances too. I forgot to tape them though. Aww, so you guys can't see any Jean action. Oh well.

Pigging out on Papa Johns Pizza! Yum Yum!
Playing spoons forks! Come on, we were bored..
The oh so solemn track. I feel kinda guilty though cause I only walked like 15 laps (I was partying most of the time). Some of the guys walked like 106 laps. WTF O.O That's hardcore.

Snuggle Wuggle....
ROCK ON!
WALK FOR THEIR LIVES!

I had so so much fun! But it would have been so much better if not for the poor weather. Ugh. But oh well, I can't wait for R4L next year! Hopefully it doesn't rain again :/

P.S. The photos are not mine. I stole them from other peeps on facebook. Teehee :p
